The book deals with the fate of Jewish owners of pharmacies and pharmacists in Czechoslovakia in 1938–1945. It begins with the discussion of their professional, social and social status before World War II and follows their lives during the Shoah discussing different political situation in different parts of the extinct state. The author also writes about the fate of a number of scientists and entrepreneurs in the pharmaceutical industry. As much as preserved testimonies allow, a more detailed discussion of the lives of several victims and survivors is presented. In the final part of the book, the author deals with the situation of survivors.

Kniha se zabývá osudy židovských majitelů lékáren a farmaceutů v Československu v letech 1938–1945. Vychází z jejich profesního, společenského a sociálního postavení před druhou světovou válkou a sleduje jejich životy během šoa s ohledem na odlišnou politickou situaci v různých částech zaniklého státu. Autor připomíná rovněž osudy některých vědců nebo podnikatelů ve farmaceutickém průmyslu. Životu některých obětí i přeživších je věnován podrobnější výklad, pokud to dovolují dochovaná svědectví. V závěru knihy se autor zabývá situací těch, kteří přežili.
