The German journal “NTM – Journal of the History of Science, Technology and Medicine” invites submissions for its annual article prize for young authors. Please submit previously unpublished manuscripts of article-length essays in the fields of history of science, technology and medicine. The prize will be given to the best submission. Initiated by the publishing house Birkhäuser in 2016, the prize includes a sponsored two year subscription of NTM, a monetary award (400 EUR) and a book voucher (200 EUR). The prize committee includes two representatives of the NTM editorial board, and members of its advisory board. The prize will be awarded at the annual meeting of the Gesellschaft für Geschichte der Wissenschaften, der Medizin und Technik (GWMT) in September 2020. Submissions are due by the 1st of April 2020 and should be sent to the Managing Editor of NTM: [redaktion@ntm.tu-berlin.de]. All submissions will also be evaluated for potential publication in NTM.
Submissions and Conditions of Participation
Manuscripts (ca. 75,000 characters) should follow the journal’s instructions for authors and can be submitted in German, English or French. They are supposed to be methodically or theoretically innovative or should open up new areas of investigation. The competition is open to young authors who have yet to finish their PhD or who have already received it within four years of the date of their submission. Articles must not have been previously published in another form or outlet and should not be currently under consideration by another journal or book series. NTM will publish the award-winning article once it has passed the peer-review process.
